The Legend of Chris Davis: How he went from being a 3-star to a part of the greatest play in sports history

Image result for chris davis auburn    Chris Davis is one of the most well known athletes in Auburn history. Why? Because he made the most dramatic, most memorable, and most unbelievable play in sports history. But despite all the fame, he falls under the category of being a hero in college but a nobody in the pros. How did Chris Davis go from a 3-star to an Auburn hero? This is a short paragraph on Chris Davis and how one 109 yard run made him a hero.

Every athlete wants to be a well known athlete and not just another player. In high school at Woodlawn in Birmingham, AL, Chris Davis was well known. He was a hero at Woodlawn. But the rest of the world didn't know who he was. He was just another 3-star athlete who picked up a scholarship from a big university. Most 3-star athletes don't get to play. Most 3-stars are just expected to be maybe a third string at their position. But when Auburn offered Chris Davis, it wasn't a mistake. It was a decision that impacted the world. Chris Davis' first three seasons at Auburn were decent for a former 3-star. But the cornerback had a senior season much different than his previous three. It was a magical senior season. The Tigers dominated for the first half of the 2013 season. And that continued. But Auburn's undefeated season looked to surely end when they found their selves down 37-38 against Georgia on 4th & 18 with 36 seconds remaining. But Chris Davis along with millions all over the country witnessed a miracle when quarterback Nick Marshall completed a bobbled pass to Ricardo Louis for a 73 yard touchdown. Davis knew he'd witnessed history. What he didn't know was that exactly two weeks later, he'd make history himself. On November, 30th 2013, Auburn faced Alabama. With exactly 0:01 second on the clock, Alabama attempted a field goal to win the game. Again, Auburn's undefeated season looked to be in jeopardy. When the kick sailed through the air, Jordan-Hare Stadium was silent. Everyone was holding their breaths. The kick was short, resulting in an outburst of cheers by Auburn fans. Chris Davis caught the ball and started sprinting to his left. He received several blocks allowing him to burst free. He was in the clear, no Alabama players in front of him. Just the inzone waiting only a few yards away with Auburn fans screaming at the top of their lungs in the stands. Chris Davis had made himself famous because of one play that lasted less than 20 seconds. In January, 2014, Chris Davis was guarding Kelvin Benjamin of Florida State who caught the eventual game-winning touchdown pass to beat Auburn and secure a title for Florida State. But despite that, Chris Davis is a beloved Auburn hero who made the most amazing play in sports history. Surprisingly, Chris Davis went undrafted later that year. He signed with a team but never sprouted into a star in the NFL. But Chris Davis is well known across the country because of the incredible 'Kick Six'. Chris Davis is a forever Auburn hero. Image result for chris davis auburn

The Legend of Nick Marshall: How he went from a Georgia defensive back to the Nation's best quarterback

One most incredible stories of a nobody to a somebody is centered around Nick Marshall. You know the name. Marshall nearly led Auburn to its 3rd National Title. But he went undrafted in the NFL draft. This is a short paragraph on how Nick Marshall found his true potential.

In 2011, Nick Marshall became a cornerback for one of Auburn's most hated rivals, the Georgia Bulldogs. But his identification as a Georgia player was short lived as he and two other Dawgs were dismissed from the team following a violation of unspecific team rules. Then he transferred to Garden City Community College where he made a switch to quarterback. He scored 37 touchdowns and ran for an insane 1,095 yards. After one season with Garden City C.C., he transferred to Auburn with a hope of being named starting quarterback. In August of 2013, his wish was granted making him the starting quarterback under Gus Malzahn. That year went smoothly for Marshall and as everyone recalls, on November 16, 2013, Marshall heaved the ball down the field on 4th & 18 with 36 seconds to go. The ball looked to be a sure interception. But amazingly, Tray Matthews, a future Auburn player at the time, and another Georgia player, collided which caused the ball to bounce into the air only to be caught by Ricardo Louis to score the eventual game-winning touchdown. "The Prayer at Jordan-Hare" was known as one of the most dramatic plays in sports history. And only two weeks later, Nick Marshall witnessed his teammate Chris Davis return a kick 109 yards to beat Alabama on a walk of victory. After that, Marshall lead the Tigers past Missouri in the SEC Championship to the National Championship where they barely lost to Florida State. And after another season at Auburn the next year, Marshall entered the 2015 NFL Draft to attempt to play as a cornerback in the NFL. It seems his decision to switch from quarterback to cornerback was a mistake. He went undrafted only to sign with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Marshall's pro career never worked out. Nick Marshall is known by as many as a player who was only good in college. But Nick Marshall is known as one of College Football's greatest quarterbacks.

Alternate jerseys for Auburn? Rumors spread

The only time Auburn's done an alternate jersey is a long time ago when they introduced orange jerseys. But will it stay that way? Rumors have been spreading that Auburn should introduce alternate jerseys in the future. Although AU its self hasn't spread rumors, other rumors throughout the web have spread. So if Auburn introduces alternate jerseys, this is the perfect look:

Malik Willis finds perfect fit, transfers to Liberty

Former Auburn QB Malik Willis found the perfect fit on Tuesday as he announced his decision to transfer to the Liberty Flames. I can speak for many when I say this couldn't be a better fit. He will start for Liberty at QB but whether he'll play in 2019 is still a question. Willis is seeking immediate eligibility but may not be granted. Not only is this a great situation for him to be in, but Willis will play with Head Coach Hugh Freeze who Auburn was expected to sign as their offensive coordinator. So Auburn fans, this season when you're waiting for the Auburn games to start, you should see if Liberty's playing and watch Malik dominate. That is, if he gets a waiver. So good luck Malik! We're routing for you!

Auburn Sports Breakdown: Harper, Brown, Dunbar all having solid Summer League games, Jarrett Stidham officially marries, Softball picks up huge addition

Jared Harper made his NBA Summer League debut on Sunday night scoring a blazing 19 points and 4 assists. If he keeps playing good, he'll likely earn a spot on the Phoenix Suns roster. Bryce Brown has had a roller coaster of a Summer League. With the Kings' first game, Brown didn't play. In the Kings' second game, Brown scored 8 points. Then in the Kings' third game, he bumped it up to 12 points. But in the Kings' most recent game, Brown didn't score despite being given 12 minutes to put one in. Malik Dunbar, has scored a little in the games that Golden State lets him play in. And as for Chuma Okeke, he has a torn ACL. But the former Auburn boys are representing well in the NBA Summer League.

It's wedding season and one of the many weddings that happened recently was former Auburn QB Jarrett Stidham's wedding. Jarrett Stidham married his long-time girlfriend Kennedy Brown. Congrats to Mr. and Mrs. Stidham!

Auburn Softball picked up a transfer. Samantha Yarbrough transferred from South Alabama to Auburn quite recently. She's the former 7A Softball Player of the Year. Her primary position is pitcher but she can also be a position player. This is a big addition for AU Softball.

Auburn Undercover revealed a simulation of Auburn's season on NCAA Football 20 put together by SG1 Sports. The simulation had Oregon beating Auburn 20-17, Auburn defeating Texas A&M 20-14, Auburn taking care of business vs Mississippi State 35-25, Florida surviving Auburn 24-22, Arkansas 38 Auburn 31, wait a minute. Arkansas upsetting Auburn? Seriously? The simulation clearly isn't accurate. But as we were saying, LSU beating Auburn again 31-29, Auburn putting down Ole Miss 26-21, Auburn barely losing to Georgia 47-50 (3 OT), and finally Auburn losing to Alabama 15-31. So that sure is an odd simulation. I don't think that's how the season will go for Auburn score-wise but I could be wrong. The video is at the bottom of this article.

Auburn Recruiting in 2021 will likely be one of Auburn's best classes ever. Auburn is predicted to land at least three 5-stars. The highest ranked prospect who has high interest in Auburn is athlete Ga'Quincey McKinstry. He plays defensive back along with wide receiver. McKinstry is from Pinson Valley and is ranked the #16 overall player in the Nation for 2021. He's won a State Championship in both Football and Basketball.

Two 4-stars announce pledge to Auburn Football

To start July of with a bang, Auburn gained two commitments from 4-stars first on Monday, then another on Tuesday. 4-star wide receiver Ze'Vian Capers committed to Auburn over Tennessee and South Carolina. He is the Tigers' forth WR committed in 2020. Then the next day, 4-star linebacker Wesley Steiner announced his commitment to Auburn over Stanford. And it was somewhat obvious that a player from Warner Robins, GA would choose to play a few hours away from his home than 2,559 miles away from his home. He is the Tigers third commit at LB. And with these two commitments, Auburn has moved up from 23rd in recruiting rankings to 13th. #WarEagle x #RideForTheBrand
