Boom! Two recruits commit to Auburn

Auburn fans have something to cheer about this week. Two recruits committed to Auburn after the AU Recruit Picnic. We'll save the best for last. On Tuesday, Andre Stewart, a 2022 defensive back from Marietta, GA, announced his early pledge to Auburn. His commitment was early but he had no doubt that Auburn was the place for him. Stewart was asked why he committed so early. "Why wait, really? They've got everything I like. I love the feel for it." Stewart is though to be one of the top young players in Georgia but there are no rankings for the class of 2022 yet. Now let's get to the big surprise. A quarterback committed to Auburn! Aaron McLaughlin, a 4-star 2021 quarterback committed to Auburn on Tuesday also. The #268 recruit overall in the class of 2021 loved Auburn's style of offense leading to his commitment. "Coach Malzahn said I'm exactly what they want for that offense. I can run it exactly how he wants it to be run." So with that Auburn has its 2021 QB. War Eagle everybody!

Auburn Hoops offers talented Basketball and Football star

Qa'Quincy McKinstry, a 5'11 guard in a basketball and a cornerback in football, was offered a scholarship in basketball from Auburn as he already has a scholarship offer in Auburn football. The one they call 'Kool Aid', has won a State Championship in both sports. McKinstry is a       5-star football prospect out of Pinson Valley. Sound familiar? Bo Nix came out of Pinson Valley. Meaning if 'Kool Aid' McKinstry committed to Auburn, he'd get to play with his High School teammate. Auburn is one of the top Football/Basketball schools in the nation. That certainly gives Auburn a good reputation for Ga'Quincy McKinstry.

Auburn LB commit becomes 5-star

Trenton Simpson, who committed to Auburn in June, earned a 5th star in 247 Sports' most recent Top 247. He moved up 20 spots to #14. In 247 Sports' regular rankings, Simpson is still a 4-star. But Simpson is a 5-star type of athlete.

#1 JUCO prospect commits to Auburn

Kilian Zierer, the Nation's top JUCO prospect, committed to Auburn. The 2020 3-star OT unexpectedly picked Auburn over UCLA. This is big for Auburn. Zierer is Auburn's 5th O-Line prospect committed.

Kerryon back in Alabama, buys kids back to school apparel

Kerryon Johnson, a former Auburn running back, has returned to Auburn. He recently gave 20 kids from a school in Auburn each $100 to spend on shoes, sports equipment, and clothes at Academy. Several kids said they were thankful for the surprise because it would take a little financial stress of their parents. Kerryon Johnson said "Two cities I really love are Huntsville and Auburn. Those two cities have really made me feel at home, so anything I can do to help the future generations of those, I'm willing to do," Johnson exclaimed. "Getting to do something like this is pretty incredible."

Weekend Wows: Wait, Prince Tega Wanogho has a pet Giraffe?

On Thursday, Auburn OT Prince Tega Wanogho was asked about his pet Giraffe 'Bobo'. Wait, he has a Giraffe? He is a prince from Nigeria after all. But no, not really. Even though it's quite possible for Prince Tega Wanogho to have a pet Giraffe, he said it was just something he made up to tell people.

Auburn adds another commit to its 2019 class!

Auburn received an unexpected commitment recently from forward Devan Cambridge from Athens, TN. He is ranked a 3-star by Rivals.com and isn't highly recruited but despite that, its a big addition to Auburn Basketball and he could turn heads.

Home Again: Jared, Chuma, Bryce and Malik visit former teammates at practice in Auburn

Four former Tigers made an unexpected visit to Auburn Basketball practice on Monday. Jared Harper (Suns), Bryce Brown (Kings), Chuma Okeke (Magic), and Malik Dunbar (Warriors), decided to meet up in Auburn as the NBA Summer League recently ended. They're always gonna be connected to Auburn no matter what happens so at the end of the day, they'll always be AU Family. #WarEagle x #AUNextLevel Former AU basketball stars Okeke, Brown, Harper and Dunbar return to practice

Most Important Player for Auburn may not be considered a star

Plenty of names could fill someones mind when they ask them selves, who the most important Tiger on the 2019 roster is. Derrick Brown,        Bo Nix/Joey Gatewood, or even Noah Igbinoghene are all notable names. But the real most important Auburn player is unknown to several Auburn fans. K.J. Britt, a Junior linebacker for Auburn is a name who not many knew last year. He was back-up to the Senior Deshaun Davis. Why is he the most important Tiger? He'll determine whether Auburn has a good season or not. The linebacker position is one that can make or break your season. If Britt can show everyone that he can make the crazy tackles and get the sacks, Auburn will be a strong defensive unit. If Britt can make play after play like Deshaun Davis, it will cause multiple issues for opposing teams' offense. If he doesn't, running backs will cut to the outside and find space resulting in big gains. If K.J. Britt's a play maker, it could spark a few unexpected Ws for Auburn. He's the key to having a great season.

Gus Malzahn Coaching Q&A

Question: Gus is on the hot seat. He's under the most pressure of any coach in the country. So if Auburn as expected, has a seven or eight win season, Is Gus gone? Most Auburn fans want him gone. It's not that he's a bad guy. He's got a great personality. But like every team, when they haven't lived up to the expectations, they blame the coach. In some cases, the coach gets blame that he didn't deserve. But if Gus doesn't have a great season, it will be his fault. The only way Gus can maybe save himself is if he beats every team but Georgia and Alabama. That means not only beating Oregon, Texas A&M and Mississippi State, but also upsetting Florida and LSU on the road. So will Gus, after nine faithful seasons, be gone?

Answer: Gus will be gone with out a 10 win season. But Auburn can bring in a great coach considering that Auburn may have the best quarterback in the SEC next year in either Bo Nix or Joey Gatewood.

Know the foes: 5 players you gotta know vs Oregon

Justin Herbert - Senior - Quarterback
Herbert is thought to have one of the most stellar arm in College Football. He can sling it into tight windows. He is much like former Auburn QB Jarrett Stidham. Herbert can hurt you with his 3rd down passes. That's something the Auburn DBs will have to stay strong against. The player who will be tested vs Justin Herbert will be Christian Tutt, a sophomore CB. He'll have to stay with the receivers because if he gives Herbert even the smallest look, it could result in a big play for Oregon.

C.J. Verdell - Sophomore - Running Back
Verdell had a notable rookie season. With shifty feet and a strong stiff arm, Verdell can speed past defenders and boulder through the tightest gaps. He is the real MVP for Oregon and with Auburn's inexperienced linebackers, you'll see Herbert giving it to Verdell a lot. It'll be easy for Auburn's D-Line to bring down Verdell but if he finds a gap, it'll be a test for freshman linebacker Owen Pappoe. It'll be a matter of subtracting the elements of Verdell's run game. If you take out C.J. Verdell, the whole Oregon ship goes down.

Juwan Johnson - Senior - Wide Receiver
Despite having little experience with Oregon, the Penn state grad-transfer will be a killer on fly routes. He's big, he's fast, much like Auburn WR Seth Williams. He's all about possession. You get a good ball to him, he'll make you pay. What he lacks is max aggressiveness. I can see him turning into a N'Keal Harry type WR if he becomes more aggressive. Johnson thrives in the big moments. He wants the ball. He's hungry every play. Oregon will no question hit Johnson on shorts slants and pick up big yards. But will Noah Igbinoghene and Javaris Davis be able to handle him?

Kayvon Thibodeaux - Freshman - Defensive End
Kayvon Thibodeaux is the best freshman in college football. He'll prove to be a strong weapon against Auburn. While he doesn't have much experience with College O-Lines, he can still weave through and pursue the QB. He is a dominant defender and just may be the #1 overall pick in the NFL Draft someday. Auburn's Prince Tega Wanogho will be able to control Thibodeaux but is the rest of the O-line ready?

Mykael Wright - Freshman - Cornerback
Lots of hype surrounded Wright as he committed to the Ducks. He has very quick feet and has a competitive mindset. He has an ability to almost breakdown the play in full speed. He knows exactly when to shift and jump routes. His footwork is NFL level and it seems he has an imaginary leash to his man. He sticks with the quickest WRs and will be a challenge for Matthew Hill.

College Football's nearly here! Almost time for the pads to be put on, for ESPN to showcase Gameday, and for wild, crazy football!

The great, explainable feeling when you wake up and it's College Football Gameday is nearly here. We're counting the days until College Football is back. For Auburn fans, it'll be any day now that national headlines showcase who Auburn's starting QB will be. Joey or Bo? One of them will start. One of them will get the first snap vs Oregon. Who will it be? The rare Cam Newton hybrid Joey Gatewood, or the freshman prodigy Bo Nix? In less than a month, it will be revealed

The Legend of Chris Davis: How he went from being a 3-star to a part of the greatest play in sports history

Image result for chris davis auburn    Chris Davis is one of the most well known athletes in Auburn history. Why? Because he made the most dramatic, most memorable, and most unbelievable play in sports history. But despite all the fame, he falls under the category of being a hero in college but a nobody in the pros. How did Chris Davis go from a 3-star to an Auburn hero? This is a short paragraph on Chris Davis and how one 109 yard run made him a hero.

Every athlete wants to be a well known athlete and not just another player. In high school at Woodlawn in Birmingham, AL, Chris Davis was well known. He was a hero at Woodlawn. But the rest of the world didn't know who he was. He was just another 3-star athlete who picked up a scholarship from a big university. Most 3-star athletes don't get to play. Most 3-stars are just expected to be maybe a third string at their position. But when Auburn offered Chris Davis, it wasn't a mistake. It was a decision that impacted the world. Chris Davis' first three seasons at Auburn were decent for a former 3-star. But the cornerback had a senior season much different than his previous three. It was a magical senior season. The Tigers dominated for the first half of the 2013 season. And that continued. But Auburn's undefeated season looked to surely end when they found their selves down 37-38 against Georgia on 4th & 18 with 36 seconds remaining. But Chris Davis along with millions all over the country witnessed a miracle when quarterback Nick Marshall completed a bobbled pass to Ricardo Louis for a 73 yard touchdown. Davis knew he'd witnessed history. What he didn't know was that exactly two weeks later, he'd make history himself. On November, 30th 2013, Auburn faced Alabama. With exactly 0:01 second on the clock, Alabama attempted a field goal to win the game. Again, Auburn's undefeated season looked to be in jeopardy. When the kick sailed through the air, Jordan-Hare Stadium was silent. Everyone was holding their breaths. The kick was short, resulting in an outburst of cheers by Auburn fans. Chris Davis caught the ball and started sprinting to his left. He received several blocks allowing him to burst free. He was in the clear, no Alabama players in front of him. Just the inzone waiting only a few yards away with Auburn fans screaming at the top of their lungs in the stands. Chris Davis had made himself famous because of one play that lasted less than 20 seconds. In January, 2014, Chris Davis was guarding Kelvin Benjamin of Florida State who caught the eventual game-winning touchdown pass to beat Auburn and secure a title for Florida State. But despite that, Chris Davis is a beloved Auburn hero who made the most amazing play in sports history. Surprisingly, Chris Davis went undrafted later that year. He signed with a team but never sprouted into a star in the NFL. But Chris Davis is well known across the country because of the incredible 'Kick Six'. Chris Davis is a forever Auburn hero. Image result for chris davis auburn

The Legend of Nick Marshall: How he went from a Georgia defensive back to the Nation's best quarterback

Image result for nick marshall vs georgia

One most incredible stories of a nobody to a somebody is centered around Nick Marshall. You know the name. Marshall nearly led Auburn to its 3rd National Title. But he went undrafted in the NFL draft. This is a short paragraph on how Nick Marshall found his true potential.

In 2011, Nick Marshall became a cornerback for one of Auburn's most hated rivals, the Georgia Bulldogs. But his identification as a Georgia player was short lived as he and two other Dawgs were dismissed from the team following a violation of unspecific team rules. Then he transferred to Garden City Community College where he made a switch to quarterback. He scored 37 touchdowns and ran for an insane 1,095 yards. After one season with Garden City C.C., he transferred to Auburn with a hope of being named starting quarterback. In August of 2013, his wish was granted making him the starting quarterback under Gus Malzahn. That year went smoothly for Marshall and as everyone recalls, on November 16, 2013, Marshall heaved the ball down the field on 4th & 18 with 36 seconds to go. The ball looked to be a sure interception. But amazingly, Tray Matthews, a future Auburn player at the time, and another Georgia player, collided which caused the ball to bounce into the air only to be caught by Ricardo Louis to score the eventual game-winning touchdown. "The Prayer at Jordan-Hare" was known as one of the most dramatic plays in sports history. And only two weeks later, Nick Marshall witnessed his teammate Chris Davis return a kick 109 yards to beat Alabama on a walk of victory. After that, Marshall lead the Tigers past Missouri in the SEC Championship to the National Championship where they barely lost to Florida State. And after another season at Auburn the next year, Marshall entered the 2015 NFL Draft to attempt to play as a cornerback in the NFL. It seems his decision to switch from quarterback to cornerback was a mistake. He went undrafted only to sign with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Marshall's pro career never worked out. Nick Marshall is known by as many as a player who was only good in college. But Nick Marshall is known as one of College Football's greatest quarterbacks.
